Event management for WordPress, done right.

Migrate from Brown Paper Tickets

BPT Is Closing June 30, 2026

If you’re here, you probably already know. Brown Paper Tickets is shutting down, and your events need a new home.

We know this wasn’t your choice. Many organizations chose BPT specifically because it was the affordable, nonprofit-friendly option. Losing that platform is frustrating, especially with a hard deadline.

If you’re weighing your options, our BPT alternative guide covers why WordPress-based event management avoids the same problem happening again. This page focuses on the migration process itself.

What Transfers

The NetterTech Events Migrator handles:

  • Events - titles, descriptions, dates, venues, categories
  • Recurring patterns - converted to RFC 5545 RRULE format
  • Venues - names, addresses, capacity
  • Attendee data - names, emails, ticket records (for communication purposes)

What needs manual setup:

  • Ticket pricing - review and confirm pricing for each event
  • Payment processing - connect your Stripe or PayPal account
  • Templates - customize how events appear on your site (or use the defaults)

Step by Step

1. Export Your BPT Data

Before June 30, export everything from your BPT account:

  • Event list with dates, descriptions, and venues
  • Attendee/customer list with emails
  • Any ticket sales reports you want to keep

2. Set Up WordPress + NetterTech Events

If you don’t have a WordPress site yet, most hosts (SiteGround, Bluehost, Cloudways) offer one-click installation. Budget $10-25/month for hosting.

  1. Install and activate NetterTech Events (coming soon to WordPress.org)
  2. Install and activate WooCommerce (free) for ticketing
  3. Connect your Stripe account under WooCommerce > Settings > Payments

New to NetterTech Events? Follow the getting started guide for detailed setup instructions.

3. Run the Migration

  1. Install the NetterTech Events Migrator plugin
  2. Go to Events > Migrate
  3. Upload your exported BPT data
  4. Click Analyze to preview what will be imported
  5. Review the preview, then click Migrate

4. Verify and Go Live

  1. Review your imported events for accuracy
  2. Test the ticket purchase flow with a test order
  3. Test QR code check-in with a sample ticket
  4. Redirect your old BPT links to your new WordPress event pages
  5. Notify your mailing list of the new ticketing URL
